WLLACE uses oil to create playful and expressive paintings full of visual emotion and chaotic control. His subject matter often consists of botanical designs and colors, drawing inspiration from his hometown of Portland Oregon and the natural world of the Pacific Northwest. Photographs of the peony and rose, flowers which carry importance through their symbolism and personal appreciation, serve as reference when creating a new piece.
His world view of being “in the moment” and remaining open to the constant change of life carries over into his works, with paintings often going through multiple changes and alterations until a visually settling piece is unknowingly revealed. Colorblindness directly effects his artistic approach and through the experimentation of bold color and line work he is able to stimulate a visual experience.
WLLACE earned a B.A. in Art from Gonzaga University in 2013 and furthers to continue his practice of painting and drawing.
